Tommy Maus and Jim Hannan have come together to combine over half a century of shaping experience to create Lemonade Surfboards. This venture was the culmination of their collective history in the surf industry—shaping, designing, and riding boards. The vision for Lemonade was clear: creating updated board shapes that blended the classic elements they knew and loved with fresh, forward-thinking designs.
Tommy Maus: started shaping in 1977. Donald Takayama recognized Tommy’s talent and tapped him to run his factory in California. Tommy ran the Takayama factory for 18 years. During those years, Tommy was also Donald's ghost shaper, working closely with Donald shaping his boards from 1996 up until his passing in 2012.
Jim Hannan: Jim has spent the last 30 years honing his skills in the industry, working for names like Ricky Carroll, Natural Art, Dick Catri and Donald Takayama. After going out to the Takayama Factory to train and learn under Donald, Jim shaped the Takayama boards here on the East Coast for over 20 years at R&D Surf. Each experience in the industry built upon the last, contributing to Jim’s deep understanding of surfboard design and the nuanced art of shaping.
